Sustainability

At BMA Belting, sustainability is at the core of our operations, guiding every decision we make. We recognise the environmental impact of our industry and are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through innovative and sustainable practices. Our approach to corporate social responsibility reflects our dedication to both the environment and the communities we serve.

01

REDUCED WATER USAGE

Water usage in the vulcanising process is a significant environmental concern in our industry. Traditional methods can consume between 20-80 litres of water per belt, leading to substantial wastage over time. To address this, BMA Belting has implemented several key measures:
•   Air-Cooled Vulcanisers: We’ve invested $400,000 in advanced air-cooled vulcanisers, eliminating the need for water in cooling belts up to 1,200mm wide.
•   Water Recycling Systems: For belts over 1,200mm wide, we’ve installed a 200-litre tank that recycles water, cooling it to 50°C for reuse.
•   These initiatives have significantly reduced our water consumption, making our operations more environmentally friendly.

02

RENEWABLE ENERGY

In line with the Australian government's Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme, BMA Belting is committed to reducing our reliance on non-renewable energy sources. Our head factory in Auburn, NSW, has invested in renewable energy by installing 106 solar panels connected to a 25kW inverter. This system generates clean, off-grid energy that powers our operations and aligns with our long-term sustainability goals.

03

RECYCLING AND WASTE REDUCTION

BMA Belting's recycling program is an integral part of our sustainability strategy. Across all our factories, we have implemented practices that convert 65% of our usual waste into reusable materials. This includes recycling paper, cardboard, plastic film, polystyrene, timber, and metals, saving over 560 cubic metres of waste from ending up in landfills annually.

04

ETHICAL SOURCING AND GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS

We are committed to being an ethical and sustainable supplier, partnering with carefully selected global manufacturers who share our values. This ensures that our products are not only of the highest quality but are also produced with a focus on minimising environmental impact.
